Meet Your US Embassy Warden in Antigua Guatemala
Mr. Patrick Atkinson has been a legal resident of Guatemala since 1983. During this time, he has worked in war zone reconciliation across Central and South America, and post-war reconstruction efforts in Central and South America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. He is the founder of numerous award-winning nonprofit organizations across Central America, Africa, and the United States. He is a graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead and earned a Masters in Nonprofit Business Management from Regis University (Denver, CO).
Mr. Atkinson has received numerous regional and international human rights and community development awards and recognitions. In 2005, he received the Guatemalan Congressional Medal in recognition for the risks he took and lives he helped to save during Guatemala's 36-year civil war. In 2007 and again from 2011 through 2014 he was named Goodwill Ambassador for Peace by the government of Guatemala. He is the subject of the biography "The Dream Maker", by Monica Hannan, and the author and co-author of several books and articles, including the internationally selling book, "Message For My Child".
The projects he has founded and direct have, over the years, raised over 50,000 children in academically-intensive environments.
